Microsoft Office soon on Nokia mobiles

After an initial technology partnership around Exchange Mail, the Wall Street Journal thinks that Microsoft and Nokia may announce in the next hours a new agreement to bring the Office suite of U.S. publisher on the Finnish manufacturer of smartphones.
Until now, applications like Word, Excel and Powerpoint were only available on Windows Mobile operating system supplied by Microsoft. To open or edit Office documents on a Nokia smartphone, consumers had to buy additional software such as Mobile Office, QuickOffice or DocumentToGo.
If agreement is confirmed, it could at least enhance the attractiveness of the Microsoft Office suite, jostled by free software like Open Office or online applications like Google Docs. The agreement would also be beneficial to Nokia which relies on its Eseries smartphones for itself in the business world, hitherto the preserve of Canada with its RIM Blackberry.
